University Animal Clinic is a full service animal clinic, located in University Park. We are proud to provide the best in wellness and emergency care to all kinds of pets in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee, and Sarasota. Dr. Robert Rill and Dr. Tyrene Felllman come together to head up a highly skilled, extensively experienced veterinary staff, specializing in the care and treatment of small and exotic animals. We, at the University Animal Clinic are prepared to offer the latest proven treatments of orthopedic and emergency issues, as well as providing simple vaccination and spay and neuter services.

Veterinarian in University Park helps GreyhoundsWe are proud to carry an AAHA rating meaning that our veterinary staff and animal hospital have been evaluated based on over 400 different medical and service standards, and were found to be exemplary. With this in mind, we hope pet owners will feel comfortable and confident trusting a pet to our care. It is our goal to be the premier vet for the residents of Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, and the surrounding areas.

Additionally, in 2008, Sarastoa Magazine named our animal clinic Best Veterinary Clinic, and in 2009, Creative Loafing Magazine gave us the honor or Best Vet of the Suncoast. We were doubly honored by Living Out East Magazine; in which we were named Best Veterinarian in 2009 and 2010. Our experience in using advanced technology, our thorough knowledge of orthopedic treatment for pets, and our prowess in pet surgery are only a few of the standards in which we excel.

Our Animal Hospital Works with the
Racing Dog Rescue Project

At University Animal Clinic, we believe that “Caring Only Requires Love.” With this in mind, we dedicate a great deal of our time and talents to our relationship with and support of the Racing Dog Rescue Project (RDRP). This is a non-profit organization, committed to the rescue, care, treatment, and placement of greyhounds, abandoned by the racing circuit. The sport of greyhound racing maintains its vast popularity, and these beautiful, mild dogs are raised to race. However, once a greyhound becomes too old to race well, he becomes retired, and the owner no longer has a need for them. The RDRP is committed to helping the retired greyhounds of Lakewood Ranch, University Park, Bradenton, Sarasota by finding adoptive homes where they are able to live their lives in safety and security.

We, at UAC, offer medical treatment for the greyhounds rescued by the RDRP. This includes vaccinations, spay and neuter treatments, even surgery if needSarasota Vet Supports Greyhound Rescueed. The goal is to make these dogs more adoptable by ensuring they are healthy and ready to transition into a home. Often the medical needs of a retired greyhound fall under the orthopedic realm. This is due, in part, to the anatomical structure inherent to the breed and also to the physical rigors of the life of a racing dog. We have the expertise necessary to meet the specific needs of this wonderful breed.

If you are an adoptive owner of a retired greyhound, we would like to be your vet and have the opportunity to care for your pet, from the initial spay and neuter needs and vaccinations to any orthopedic or emergency issues down the road.

  • We are actively involved with the Humane Society of Sarasota County to provide free initial exams on any newly adopted pet within 7 days of that adoption. Their website is www.hssc.org.
  • We have unique partnerships with Vet Care Express. They provide both emergency and non-emergency transport for pets throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties. Website is www.vetcareexpress.com
  • We also partner with Pets Plus+ in Parrish, Florida. We inspect and assure proper conditions exist for housing some of their exotic species. We provide discounts on veterinary visits for newly purchased animals that choose to be seen by our veterinarians. Website is www.petsplusfl.com.
